Letter from the President

Welcome.

As the Board of Trustee's President for Bay Farm Montessori Academy, I am asked to wear a number of hats. In preparation for guiding our dedicated trustees, I served as a member of the Finance (numbers are my passion), Trusteeship and Strategic Planning Committees, as well as Chair of the Development Committee and Vice President of the Executive Committee. I was also fortunate to be a part of the Head of School Search Committee. When asked to serve as President, it was an honor to accept.

Over the years, I have learned that the Bay Farm community is warm and welcoming, providing a wealth of volunteer opportunities for parents. My initial introduction to this community came as a room parent. In conjunction with working in the classroom, I also attended the monthly Montessori Parents Association (MPA) meetings. I was “wowed” by the committed, energetic and talented parents who are able to work in the present and plan for the future. Plans for fundraising, guest speakers, book fairs and classroom assistance are just a few areas of focus. There are also committees that provide opportunities for community service and diversity awareness. Our parents have a contagious passion and a willingness to volunteer that provides a wealth of support for our children and their teachers.

We have two daughters who currently attend Bay Farm and one who recently graduated. As a mom, I am also “wowed” by the committed, energetic and talented children who are just a small part of a greater community. As a parent, I enjoy sitting quietly every so often and listening to the children’s energetic plans for science and creative writing projects, as well as to lines from their dramatic performances. Step into the classroom and you will see children who are engaged learners, with a passion for their work. None of this could take place without the steady guidance and incredible support of their teachers. During my tenure at Bay Farm, I have been privileged to attend many full board meetings, as well as a variety of committee meetings. I am always “wowed” by the committed, energetic and talented people who are able to work in the present and plan for the future. This dedicated group focuses on everything from implementing our strategic plan and planning campus development to growing enrollment and overseeing our fiscal health. Their work ensures that the framework is in place so that we can continue to provide a great education for our children.

It is a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of this vibrant and thoughtful community. I encourage everyone to get involved in whatever way they can. There are a multitude of volunteer opportunities in the classroom, through the MPA or on the Board of Trustees. It is through your involvement with the school and support of our talented staff that we will continue to cultivate a vibrant Montessori learning community where children are inspired to grow with joy, purpose and compassion.
